Kaishu Sano transfer saga: Mainz says it will consider €60m offer

Mainz 05 sporting director Christian Heidel said the club can keep Japanese midfielder Kaishu Sano but will entertain any offer that “leaves us gasping for air”. The €60 million bid figure has been cited as the threshold that would force a sale. Sano, 25, scored for Japan against Brazil at the World Cup and has made 119 appearances for Mainz since joining in 2024 for a reported €2.5 million fee. He is under contract until 2028 and is valued at around €50 million.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the player, and Mainz has indicated it prefers to keep negotiations confidential until an official announcement is made. If a sufficiently large offer materialises, the German club said it would have to consider the transfer, otherwise Sano is likely to remain with Mainz.
