Japanese museums announce new seasonal exhibitions and night events

The Hyogo Ceramic Art Museum has announced a special exhibition titled ‘Summer Children’s Museum Created by Child Curators,’ running from June 27 to September 6, 2026. Developed in collaboration with Hyogo University of Teacher Education, the exhibition features 60 works selected through ‘ceramic art cards.’ The event aims to showcase the collection through the unique perspectives of children, who identify similarities between ancient ceramics and modern works.

Meanwhile, the Yokai Museum on Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture, is extending its ‘Night Museum’ event into the autumn season. Running on weekends and holidays from September 5 to November 29, 2026, the event allows visitors to explore the museum after hours with lights in hand. The initiative is designed to boost nighttime tourism on the island, addressing the challenge of increasing overnight stays among the local visitor population.
