Nearly 1,900 Swimmers Compete in GBK Fun Swimming Competition 2026

The third edition of the GBK Fun Swimming Competition was held at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatic Stadium in Jakarta on 1–2 August 2026. Organized by the Pusat Pengelolaan Komplek Gelora Bung Karno (PPKGBK) in partnership with PB Akuatik Indonesia, the two‑day event attracted almost 1,900 participants from across Indonesia.

Competitors were divided into a children’s category (ages 5‑15) and a master’s category (ages 20‑64). Director Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo noted that participation rose from about 1,100‑1,200 the previous year to roughly 1,900 this year, a growth of over 50 percent. PB Akuatik chair Harlin E. Rahardjo praised the competition as a key platform for identifying and nurturing future swimming talent, emphasizing the importance of early‑age athlete development.

The event showcased Indonesia’s expanding interest in aquatic sports and demonstrated the capacity of Jakarta’s facilities to host large‑scale national competitions.
