Japanese police hold safety and cybersecurity workshops for children
Police departments in Japan are conducting specialized educational programs for children to improve safety and digital literacy.
In Sakai, the Minami Sakai Police Station held a crime prevention hero show at the Big Bang Children's Theater. Featuring the character ‘Tomato Detective Tomatine’, the performance used a theatrical format to teach children the ‘five promises to protect your life’ and how to avoid kidnapping.
In Okayama, the Okayama Prefectural Police organized a network security classroom at Notre Dame Seishin University Affiliated Elementary School. For the first time, student volunteers from the Okayama University of Science served as instructors. The session used quizzes to teach approximately 110 students and parents about internet morals, including the risks of online defamation, the importance of password security, and the necessity of verifying AI-generated information. Local police officers also provided guidance on the legal consequences of privacy violations and social media misconduct.
