Japanese railway enthusiasts receive new 2027 guides and calendars
Several new railway-themed publications and merchandise are being released in Japan for 2027.
Capital Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company has announced the release of the ‘Tsukuba Express Calendar 2027 (Wall Calendar)’. Starting October 1, 2026, the A3-sized, full-color calendar will feature photographs of all three Tsukuba Express vehicle types—the TX-1000, TX-2000, and TX-3000—set against seasonal landscapes along the line. The product is produced using waterless printing to avoid harmful waste and is limited to 2,000 copies, priced at 1,200 yen.
Additionally, Gakken has released the ‘Complete Guide to Japanese Railway Lines 2027 via Railway Maps’. This comprehensive mook provides detailed maps and data for 610 railway lines across Japan, including Shinkansen, JR, private railways, subways, and freight lines. The guide aims to help enthusiasts understand the relationship between railway routes and Japan's diverse topography, featuring specialized content such as scenic routes, station guides, and information on ekiben (station bento).
