Japanese railways introduce new Tobu 90000 series and Seibu classic livery
Tobu Railway has introduced the new 90000 series commuter train on the Tobu Tojo Line, marking the first new model for the line in 18 years. The debut of the first set, 91001F, signals a potential generational shift as the railway prepares to replace aging 9000 and 9050 series rolling stock.
Separately, Seibu Railway announced the limited-time return of the 10000 series ‘Red Arrow Classic’ as part of its ‘Seibu Group Showa 100 Special Project’. Starting October 4, 2026, a single 10000 series set will feature the iconic red and ivory white livery of the original 5000 series ‘Red Arrow’ express trains. The revival commemorates the historical design that helped establish the Seibu express brand.
