Japanese regional literary and poetry competitions announced

Various regional literary competitions and poetry submissions are currently being organized across Japan.

In Miyagi Prefecture, the Senryu Otamajakushi program has released its latest results for the theme ‘bochi-bochi’ and announced upcoming themes such as ‘birthday’ and ‘autumn.’

Saitama Prefecture is accepting entries for the 58th Saitama Literary Award in the haiku category. Open to residents, workers, or students in Saitama born before April 1, 2011, the competition allows previously published works. Winners will receive a certificate, commemorative gifts, and a 200,000 yen prize.

Additionally, the Shinoda no Mori Furusato-kan in Osaka is seeking submissions for its 63rd haiku competition. Participants are encouraged to write poems based on the history, legends, and nature of the Shinoda area, including sites like Kagami Pond and Kumano Kodo.
