Japanese sake culture highlighted through exhibitions and vintage tasting events
Exhibitions and events highlighting the history and evolution of Japanese sake culture are taking place in Japan. In Masuda Town, Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, the ‘Modern Masuda Sake Brewing Exhibition’ is being held at the Hinomaru Brewing Bunko Library. The exhibition features approximately 180 items, including historical documents and various sake vessels, showcasing the region's former status as a major brewing hub.
Additionally, the ‘VintageSakeArt 2026’ event is scheduled for October 24, 2026, at the Red Brick Sake Brewery in Tokyo. Organized by the Long-term Aged Sake Research Society, the event will bring together 22 participants, including 12 breweries, retailers, and collectors. The event focuses on the enjoyment of aged sake—sake aged for three years or more—and includes workshops and tasting opportunities to explore different aging styles.
