Japanese sake quality checks held in Kyoto ahead of major Osaka festival
In Kameoka, Kyoto Prefecture, Oishi Shuzo conducted a ‘nomikiri’ quality check on September 7. This process involves inspecting sake that was brewed in winter and aged through the summer. Inspectors from the Osaka Regional Taxation Bureau attended the session, noting that the flavor profile appeared to be in good condition.
Additionally, the 15th Washu Fest is scheduled to take place at the Osaka Bay Tower on October 24 and 25, 2026. Organized by the Washu Fest Osaka Executive Committee, the event will feature over 160 varieties of Japanese alcoholic beverages from 31 different breweries across the country. The festival aims to promote regional revitalization and will include an AI concierge to help attendees select drinks based on their preferences.
