Japanese school athletes earn podium spots in swimming and track events

At the Chiba Prefecture Middle School Sports Festival held on July 27‑28 at the Chiba International Aquatic Center, Yachiyo Matsushin Gakuen's swimming team secured six top‑six finishes. Yuto Tomono placed 5th in the boys' 200 m freestyle and 7th in the 400 m freestyle, while Nao Nouchi earned 3rd in the girls' 100 m freestyle and 2nd in the 200 m freestyle. Yuki Yamazaki took 6th in the girls' 100 m breaststroke and 5th in the 200 m breaststroke, and the school's mixed 4 × 100 m medley relay team finished 8th.

During the 10th day of the National High School Inter‑High in Hokkaido, Kuramitsu Ken of Hirosaki High School advanced to the final of the boys' 400 m hurdles with a qualifying time of 52.64 seconds. The meet also featured other regional athletes, but Kuramitsu's progression to the final was the highlighted result for the Aomori delegation.
