Japanese School Sports See Judo and Kendo Tournament Winners

At the 72nd Akita Prefecture High School Sports Festival held from June 7‑9, 2026, Saika Izumi won the women’s 48 kg judo title, while Mirai Kusunagi and Tsuki‑ka Zakka placed third. Izumi’s victory secures her a second consecutive appearance at the national Inter‑High competition and qualification for the upcoming Kinki Regional tournament in August.

The Chiba Prefecture Middle School Sports Festival kendo tournament took place July 25‑27, 2026. In the women’s team event, Matsuzaki Junior High defeated several opponents before losing 0‑2 to Tōkyō‑Meitoku Junior High in the Kanto final. The men’s team saw Inage Junior High eliminated on tie‑breaks, and individual competitors such as Ueki Ueki, Fukushima Seiyo, and Miyagawa Noe were all knocked out in the first round.
