Japanese school volleyball teams earn regional tournament advances

Hongo Middle School’s boys volleyball team won two matches at the 4th Block Summer Tournament on 21 June, securing a place in the 80th Tokyo Prefectural Middle School Volleyball Championship – its first appearance in two years.

Iwakura High School’s boys volleyball team reported its performance in the Inter‑High Tokyo qualifiers held on 7, 14 and 21 June. The team reached the Tokyo top‑four for the first time in school history, though it fell short of qualifying for the national Inter‑High tournament.

Both schools aim to build on these results in upcoming competitions, with Hongo planning to compete in the prefectural championship on 19 July and Iwakura targeting a national berth in future qualifiers.
