Japanese schools host open house and paper‑airplane workshops in June‑July

Kaetsu Ariake Middle/High School in Tokyo will hold its eighth mini‑school open house on 20 June, a 60‑minute session for prospective students and their parents. The event includes a parent interview, optional attendance by students who are still in home‑learning, and sales of a four‑subject past‑paper booklet for 1,000 yen (cash only). Participants must email the school’s public relations office at least two hours before the start time.

The Kawagoe City Facilities Management Corporation will run two paper‑airplane workshops for local elementary pupils on 25 July and 8 August at Kawagoe Sports Park. The hands‑on classes teach children to design and fly sturdy paper gliders using Kent paper and balsa wood, with flights lasting over a minute and covering several hundred metres. Each session costs 700 yen per child, payable on the day, and registration is open online from 29 June to 6 July, followed by a lottery if demand exceeds the 15‑person limit per session.

Both events are aimed at encouraging school engagement and practical learning among Japanese youth.
