Japanese schools host research sessions on generative AI classroom integration
Educational institutions in Japan are conducting research and public seminars on the practical application of generative AI in classrooms.
Tokyo Gakugei University has scheduled a public seminar for December 5, 2026, titled ‘Research on Classroom Practice Using Generative AI.’ The event will feature presentations and discussions covering elementary, secondary, and special needs education. Topics include school DX, STEAM education, and the use of AI to support students with intellectual disabilities. The seminar will be held both online and in person at the university's affiliated Koganei Elementary School.
Additionally, Nakano Junior High School in Sagamihara, a generative AI pilot school, held a public research meeting on October 23. The school, which is in its fourth year of AI integration efforts, showcased 22 different lesson segments across various subjects including mathematics, science, and English. The school's framework for AI usage focuses on six categories, such as problem-solving, individualized learning, and vocabulary development, aiming to enhance students' information literacy and inquiry-based learning processes.
