Japanese skaters Ami Nakai and Kaori Miura excel at Figure Skating Grand Prix in France
Japanese figure skaters achieved significant results at the Grand Prix series opening in France. Ami Nakai secured a comeback victory in the ladies' competition, moving from third place in the short program to first place overall. Nakai successfully executed her technical elements, including a triple Axel, and earned level 4 ratings on her spins and steps to secure her win.
In the men's competition, Kaori Miura earned a silver medal after a strong recovery in the free skate. Despite a difficult short program that left him in ninth place following a fall on a quadruple Salchow, Miura delivered a performance featuring a quadruple Salchow and a quadruple-triple combination. His total score of 247.96 points placed him second, advancing his chances for the Grand Prix Final. Additionally, Sota Yamamoto finished fifth in the men's event.
