Japanese surfers sweep Shore Temple Classic titles in India

Japanese surfers dominated the Shore Temple Classic QS 2000 and Pro Junior event held at Mahabalipuram Beach in Tamil Nadu, India. Japanese athletes secured all four titles across the Men’s and Women’s QS 2000 and Men’s and Women’s Pro Junior divisions.

In the Men’s QS 2000 final, Ikko Watanabe claimed victory with a total score of 17.10, the highest final score of the event. He narrowly defeated fellow Japanese surfer Tenshi Iwami, who finished with 16.77. In the Women’s QS 2000 division, Mirai Ikeda took the title with a score of 14.00, defeating Thailand’s Isabel Higgs.

The Pro Junior divisions also saw Japanese success, with Hinata Shimizu winning the Women’s title and Yuma Nagasawa winning the Men’s title. Organizers expressed gratitude to local authorities and indicated plans to host future WSL events in the Andaman Islands and elsewhere.
