Japanese telecom providers announce upcoming service price increases

Several Japanese telecommunications providers have announced upcoming price increases for their service plans.

Starting December 1, 2026, y. u mobile will raise monthly base fees across all its plans, including Single, Single U-NEXT, and Share U-NEXT. To offset the cost, the provider will increase monthly high-speed data capacities. Additionally, the current ‘Giga Double Benefit’ promotion is scheduled to end with the November 2026 distribution. The company cited rising costs of service provision as the reason for maintaining service quality through these adjustments.

Separately, BIGLOBE WiMAX is set to increase its base monthly fees starting October 1. For the ‘Giga Hodai Plan S,’ the monthly cost will rise from 4,928 yen to 5,258 yen. However, new users who sign up before September 30 may still be eligible for existing 24-month discount benefits, maintaining a lower rate for the initial two-year period.
