Japanese television dramas dominate viewership rankings
Commercial broadcaster dramas have secured seven of the top ten spots in weekly viewership attention rankings for the period of October 19 to 25.
Notable performers include the medical drama ‘Analog Nurse’, which ranked second in overall individual attention. The series, produced by the team behind ‘Doctor X’, follows a freelance nurse played by Nao Matsushita who operates without a smartphone in a digitalizing medical environment.
Other high-ranking programs include ‘Naminada Minami Bengoshi wa Tensai-gata’ at fourth place and the long-running series ‘Aibo Season 25’, which ranked sixth overall but fourth among core viewership demographics. The ‘Aibo’ series is currently undergoing a significant transition as it introduces a new partner for the lead character, Ukyo Sugishita.
In terms of digital engagement, the drama ‘Nami Uraraka ni, Meoto Biyori’ reached approximately 1.49 million TVer favorite registrations as of October 21. The series, a sequel to a 2025 production, focuses on the daily lives and evolving relationship of a married couple set in the Showa era.
