Japanese television dramas feature themes of betrayal and personal rebirth

Recent Japanese television broadcasts have highlighted dramatic narratives centered on overcoming betrayal and personal hardship.

In the drama ‘Mame to Mugi’, a protagonist named Mugi, who lost her career and relationship due to workplace infidelity, finds a new beginning through the art of fermentation at an izakaya called ‘Daizu-do’. The story follows her efforts to revitalize the establishment alongside the shop owner, Mame.

Meanwhile, the series ‘Komugi to Butter to Fukushu to’ follows Michiru, a baker who travels back in time two years after being betrayed by her husband and assistant. After facing infidelity and the theft of her recipes in her previous life, Michiru attempts to navigate her past to reclaim her happiness and professional identity while struggling with the necessity of interacting with the very people who wronged her.
