Japanese theme parks announce 2026 Halloween event lineups
Major Japanese theme parks have announced their 2026 Halloween seasonal events.
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) will host its 15th “Halloween Horror Night” starting September 11, 2026. A key highlight is a collaboration between the park’s “Street Zombies” and horror manga artist Junji Ito’s character, Tomie. New merchandise featuring Tomie in a zombie-infested setting, including T-shirts and keychains, will be available starting September 9. The event also features themed food items, such as bacon cutlet burgers and character-inspired sweets, alongside various mascot-themed goods.
Sanrio Character Park Harmonyland in Oita Prefecture will run its “HARMONYLAND HALLOWEEN” event from September 18 to November 10, 2026. Themed around a “sweet candy world,” the event features Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters in Halloween costumes. The park will host the “Magical Masquerade~EXCITE!~” live show, which has been updated with new choreography for 2026. Other attractions include character greetings, themed parades, and seasonal food and merchandise.
