Japanese TV personalities showcase extreme time‑saving tricks on live show
Former NHK announcer Kanda Aika appeared on Nippon TV’s program ‘Ueda and Women Howl at Night’ and described using bathroom time to fold laundry, prompting host Shinya Ueda to remark “that’s gross.”
Comedian Ōsaka of the duo Chūkin Tatehachi also appeared on the same episode, explaining that she shortens her morning routine to seven minutes and even applies makeup while riding an escalator. Viewers criticized the escalator‑makeup stunt as poor public manners, while the host expressed surprise at the claim of completing makeup in just over a minute.
Both segments sparked discussion on the cultural focus on “time performance” (タイパ) and the limits of efficiency in everyday life.
