Japanese universities announce specialized educational programs and events
Kobe Shosen University will host a public lecture titled ‘Basics of Intellectual Property (IP) — Introduction to IP Literacy through Case Studies’ on October 1. The session serves as a preview for a certificate program scheduled to launch in the IP Produce Course of the Department of Fashion and Wellness Design in fiscal year 2027. Led by attorney Kotaro Tanabe, the lecture will use accessible examples to explain how intellectual property is protected, targeting individuals interested in IP law or those requiring foundational knowledge for professional roles. The event will be held in person with an online streaming option.
Separately, the Japan University of Economics Tokyo Shibuya Campus has announced a special open campus event for its Department of Entertainment Creation and Production on August 30, 2026. Designed for high school students who may have a vague interest in the entertainment industry, the event focuses on hands-on experiences rather than traditional lectures. Activities include workshops in DJing, dance, idol activities, streaming, and fashion design. The goal is to allow prospective students to interact with current students and faculty to explore career paths in music, video production, and event management within the Shibuya culture hub.
