Japanese universities expand data science and AI education programs
Japanese universities are expanding specialized training in data science and digital transformation (DX). Kanto Gakuen University has received dual certification from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for its “Mathematical, Data Science, and AI Program” at both the literacy and applied basic levels. The curriculum, available to all students regardless of their major, covers programming languages such as R, Python, and JAVA, as well as big data, IoT, and AI business applications.
Separately, the Kanazawa Institute of Technology has announced recruitment for its “2026 DX Reskilling Education Program” aimed at working professionals. This one-day, in-person course focuses on the practical application of generative AI, prompt engineering, and task automation. The program is designed to help participants move from basic usage to a functional understanding of AI mechanisms to improve workplace productivity.
