Japanese Universities Host Workplace Café Events to Share Digital Tools and Media Insights

On July 22, Shiga University’s Digital Transformation (DX) Promotion Team organized the second "Oshigoto Café" simultaneously at its Hikone and Otsu campuses. Twenty‑two university staff members participated in a session themed "Your Preferred Tools," where they presented and discussed the software and platforms they use daily, including Microsoft Office, generative AI applications, and online meeting tools. Participants reported gaining new ideas for improving efficiency and appreciated the chance to network across departments.

On July 7, Kanazawa University’s Advanced Science and Social Co‑Creation Promotion Office hosted a discussion event titled "Team‑Built Work – Thoughts with NHK Staff" at the YABU & CAFÉ Dan venue. The event featured NHK Kanazawa Broadcasting Station Director Matsuki Akihiro, along with announcers, reporters, directors, and management staff. Thirty‑four students and faculty attended a talk covering NHK’s organizational structure, its role as a public broadcaster, disaster‑response broadcasting during the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, and the use of digital platforms to reach younger audiences. Attendees praised the opportunity to hear behind‑the‑scenes insights and to consider career paths in media.
