Japanese university baseball features no-hitter and standout draft prospects

Japanese university baseball saw several standout performances from top professional draft prospects. In the Tohto League, Asia University pitcher Keito Kawajiri threw a no-hitter against Kokugakuin University, marking the first such feat in the league in 22 years. Kawajiri, a highly touted right-hander capable of reaching 158 km/h, led his team to a 4-0 victory.

In the Kansai Student Baseball League, the race for the championship remains intense. Kwansei Gakuin University's Taisei Iida delivered a grueling performance, pitching 12 innings and throwing 160 pitches in a 2-2 draw against Kindai University. Iida, a left-handed ace, was closely watched by NPB scouts. Kindai's Ren Miyahara also drew attention, appearing in relief to pitch five scoreless innings with a maximum velocity of 156 km/h.

Meanwhile, Kansai University finished their league season with 4 points after a loss to Ritsumeikan University, leaving their chances for a consecutive spring-autumn championship dependent on the results of Kwansei Gakuin and Doshisha Universities.
