Japanese university women's teams win soccer and water polo titles

On July 4, 2026, the MyNavi Sendai Ladies Youth defeated Hachinohe Gakuin University 5‑1 in the Aster THFA Tohoku Women’s Soccer League TOP round 9. Goals were scored by Fukuhara Aiko, Uchida Sakura, Amane Mebae, Fujimaru Riko and Tanaka Yasui. The match was held at Sendai Shirayuri Gakuen Middle and High School Ground.

Shumei University’s women’s water polo team clinched the 2026 Kanto Student Water Polo League championship. The team posted victories over Tokyo Women’s Physical Education University, Waseda University, Kokushikan University, Juntendo University and Nippon Sport University in the first round, and continued strong performance in the upper league, securing their eighth title in two years and earning a place in the upcoming Japanese National Championships and Japanese University Championships in August and September.
