Japanese variety show features massive portions and restaurant updates
The upcoming broadcast of the Japanese variety program ‘Omoumai Mise’ will feature several unique dining establishments. In Kiryu, Gunma, a Chinese restaurant will be highlighted for its extreme portion sizes, specifically a fried chicken set featuring five 200-gram pieces of karaage, which customers have described as ‘karaage harassment’ due to the overwhelming volume.
The restaurant also serves ‘Obi-men,’ a signature ultra-thin, wide noodle that requires only 17 seconds of boiling time.
Additionally, the program will provide an update on ‘Aji no Isamu,’ a popular restaurant in Hanyu, Saitama. After facing challenges such as fire damage and labor shortages, the establishment has returned to full-scale operations following the hiring of university students. The episode will follow the owner’s efforts to expand the business through event appearances and his interactions with the show’s production staff during their annual training sessions.
