Japanese video game sales: Ace Combat 8 leads software charts

Japanese video game sales data for the week of September 28 to October 4, 2026, shows Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve by Bandai Namco leading the software charts with 63,013 units sold on PlayStation 5. While the title has reached one million global sales faster than any other in the franchise, its Japanese debut is lower than its predecessor, which sold nearly 160,000 units on PS4 in its first week.

Other notable software performers include the Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered by Koei Tecmo, which saw 18,724 units sold on PS5 and 11,684 units on Switch 2. Nintendo titles such as Rhythm Heaven Groove and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave also appeared in the top rankings.

In hardware sales, the Nintendo Switch 2 led the market with 26,200 units sold, followed by the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition with 12,210 units.
