Japanese Yen falls despite Bank of Japan interest rate hike

The Japanese Yen declined against major currencies despite the Bank of Japan raising interest rates to their highest level in over three decades. The decision was not unanimous, as two members of the policy board voted to maintain current monetary policy. Following the announcement, the Yen fell 0.6% against the US Dollar and 0.7% against the Euro.

Simultaneously, the US Dollar strengthened against a basket of major currencies. The US Dollar Index rose following signals from the Federal Reserve regarding potential future rate hikes. In other currency news, the British Pound reached a two-and-a-half-month low after the Bank of England held interest rates steady and suspended government bond sales for six months. Meanwhile, the Chinese Yuan rose to its highest level against the Dollar in over four years, supported by Chinese exports and central bank actions.
