Japanese zoos launch nocturnal “Night Zoo” evening events
Several Japanese zoos have launched “Night Zoo” events, allowing visitors to observe animals during their more active nocturnal hours through special evening openings and illuminations.
Tennoji Zoo in Osaka is hosting a 14-day event featuring light displays and background music to create a unique atmosphere. The zoo has extended its hours until 20:00, with specific animal enclosures remaining open at different times depending on the species. Activities include stamp rallies and bingo games. Visitors are reminded that flash photography is prohibited to avoid startling the animals.
In Nomi City, Ishikawa Zoo has also begun its “Night Zoo” series. The event features guided tours highlighting nocturnal animals, such as white tigers, and educational activities like “Bone Night Zoo,” where veterinarians present animal skulls. The zoo has extended its closing time to 21:00 for several scheduled dates throughout August, September, and October.
