Japan's sport climbing and breakdancing athletes debut at Asian Games uniform reveal
On 8 May, Team Japan held an official sports‑wear launch in Tokyo ahead of the Aichi‑Nagoya Asian Games. Four athletes – sport climber Koamatsu Koi, breakdancer SHIGEKIX (Hanai Jūkyū), wheelchair‑basketball player Torikai Renji and para‑swimmer Fukuda Kana – modeled the new red uniforms.
Koamatsu, making her Asian Games debut, praised the soft, flexible fabric and said wearing the national flag on the jersey was a source of pride. She highlighted recent record improvements in women's speed climbing (6.99 s to 9.94 s) and vowed to chase personal bests and medals. SHIGEKIX, the 2023 Hangzhou champion, noted the uniform’s comfort for his dynamic moves and expressed his aim to deliver a performance that makes the audience’s hearts “dance”, displaying the kanji “躍” as his rallying symbol.
