Japan's Atami and Otaru fireworks festivals schedule summer displays

The Atami seaside fireworks festival will be held in July 2026, with shows on Monday, July 20 (a public holiday) and Sunday, July 26. Marking the event’s 75th anniversary, organizers are selling limited special‑seat packages that include transportation to the venue. The fireworks are noted for their “big sky Niagara” finale and the acoustics of Atami Bay’s bowl‑shaped geography.

In Hokkaido, the second Otaru High Island fireworks will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The event will feature about 10,000 fireworks, including 20 underwater shells, and expects around 6,000 attendees. All viewing seats are ticketed, with 13 price categories ranging from resident‑only seats to premium camera spots. Tickets, costing 2,000 JPY each, also grant access to food, merchandise and nearby summer fairs.
