Japan’s Chiba and Aichi prefectures to open revamped hot‑spring spa complexes in 2026

The city of Ichikawa in Chiba Prefecture will reopen the day‑trip onsen “Lawton No Yu” after a large‑scale renovation. Scheduled for early August 2026, the facility will add an expanded sauna area, new interior and lounge spaces, a refurbished dining hall “Manpuku-an”, and cash‑less ticket machines. A pre‑opening event will invite 120 selected guests.

In Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture, the new spa “Mikan no Yu Gamagori” is set to open on July 9, 2026 inside the Clasp Gamagori shopping complex. The venue features a five‑story tower sauna with auto‑low‑ryu, seven different bathing pools, an outdoor air‑bath area, and a lounge stocked with about 12,000 manga volumes. Additional amenities include a cafeteria, body‑care services, and a 24‑hour coin‑laundry planned for later in July.
