Japan's convenience stores and specialty shops unveil new mochi‑style desserts
Seven‑Eleven introduced a trio of newly released sweets that quickly became popular, with the top rank going to the "Mochi‑Vanilla Crepe" featuring a chewy batter and salty‑sweet vanilla topping. The second‑place item was the "Premium Burnt Chocolate Sandwich," praised for its rich chocolate filling, while the third spot went to the "Warabi U‑Long Milk Tea" dessert, a black‑colored warabi mochi filled with tea‑flavored cream and black‑sugar sauce.
At the same time, a wave of "Dubai chocolate mochi" treats is spreading across Japan. Brands such as Torori Tenshi no Warabi Mochi, Age.3, Gold Star and others are offering mochi infused with Dubai‑style chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut and even matcha flavors. These products are being sold in select stores, supermarkets, convenience shops and featured in themed afternoon‑tea events, highlighting the growing fusion of Middle‑Eastern chocolate trends with traditional Japanese rice‑cake textures.
