Japan's game industry reports earnings swings and launches dozens of new titles

Japanese game companies posted mixed financial results in late July. Tose’s third‑quarter earnings fell 45% after a pause on a major overseas project, while Virtual Cast posted a 220% jump in net profit to ¥235 million, achieving its highest earnings and erasing accumulated losses. GENDA reported a 34.2% increase in June sales to ¥16.2 billion, driven by strong performance in amusement facilities, karaoke and merchandise. Cave expects a V‑shaped recovery with an operating profit of ¥1.45 billion for the fiscal year ending May 2027 and has completed loss‑making business clean‑ups.

Several publishers announced new games across platforms. Notable releases include "Feather Land" on Steam, "Dreamin’ Her" for iOS, and the Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Macau launch of "Mabinogi Mobile". Other titles such as "The Duskbloods" (network test), "Hololive Dreams" pre‑download, and various indie and retro‑style games were also disclosed. The market saw notable stock movements, with Silicon Studio hitting daily limits and other gaming stocks experiencing price adjustments.
