Japan's High School Quiz 2026 TOKYO Round selects 40 schools

The 46th edition of the nationwide "High School Quiz" competition will hold its TOKYO Round on July 28, where 40 high schools from across Japan compete for spots in the national tournament scheduled for late July to early August. The selected schools include representatives from Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka, and many other prefectures, such as Shiga‑East High School, Waseda High School, and Tōdaiji Gakuen High School.

The event is hosted by NTV announcer Minami Ishikawa, with members of the pop group SixTONES and actress‑singer Shiori Sato serving as on‑stage personalities. The competition’s theme this year celebrates 100 years of the Showa, Heisei and Reiwa eras, featuring questions that span three generations of Japanese history and culture. Winners of the TOKYO Round will advance to the national championship to contend for the title of Japan’s top high‑school quiz team.
