Japanese high school baseball summer tournament draws announced
Several regional high school baseball tournaments in Japan have released their summer 2026 draw schedules. The inaugural Hokkaido‑Tohoku women's hardball tournament in Shiraoi ran from June 20‑21, with the Clark A team winning the final 7‑0. In Iwate, the prefectural tournament will begin on July 8, featuring 49 teams across four blocks, with first‑seeded Hanamaki East aiming for a historic fourth straight title. Toyama’s tournament draw, set for July 10, pits first‑seeded Toyama Commercial against last year’s champion Mirai Toyama in the opening round; 42 schools and 39 teams will compete. Osaka’s prefectural draw, announced on June 16, lists 165 schools (153 teams) with the seeded Osaka Toin entering in the second round on July 12. The Osaka games will be held at venues including Kyocera Dome Osaka and the Expo Memorial Park stadium. These events determine the representatives for the 108th National High School Baseball Championship (Koshien).
