Japan's smartphone sector rolls out Honor Robot Phone and Motorola Razr Fold as ASCII.jp hosts live tech roundup

Honor announced that reservations for its new Honor Robot Phone began on July 18. The device features an integrated gimbal camera and debuted at WRC2026, with specifications yet to be released.

Motorola Mobility Japan introduced the Motorola Razr Fold, a high‑end foldable smartphone with a 2K 8.1‑inch main display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage and a 6,000 mAh battery. Prices start at ¥299,980, and pre‑orders are open. A compatible Moto Pen Ultra is also offered for ¥12,000.

Google confirmed that its first physical Google Store in Japan will open in Shibuya on August 13, providing in‑store support and product pickup.

Separately, ASCII.jp scheduled a live broadcast for July 24, featuring editors Okomoto and Tsubasa among others, to recap the week’s top IT and digital product news.
