Japan's Track Meets Showcase Elementary Winners and University Champions

The 16th Niigata Prefecture elementary school track and field championship took place on 28 June 2026 at the Denka Big Swan Stadium. Competitors in U‑9 and U‑12 classes posted results in events such as the 3‑4‑year boys long jump, 5‑year boys 100 m and various relay races, with notable performances from athletes like 横山温大 (Yokoyama On‑Dai) and 李在成 (Lee Jae‑sung).

From 19‑21 June 2026, the 79th West Japan Student Track and Field Inter‑School Championships were held at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka. Doshisha University athletes competed across multiple disciplines, including Fujino’s 10.98 s 100 m in the decathlon and 南部 (Nanbu) winning the 5000 m and 200 m titles, securing the university’s first West Japan title. Other Doshisha relay teams reached the finals, posting competitive times and aiming for national qualification at the upcoming All‑Japan Inter‑Collegiate meet.
