Japan's Zion Suzuki says Brazil's Alisson praised him after World Cup loss

Japan were eliminated by Brazil 2‑1 in the round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup. After the match, Brazil goalkeeper Alisson approached Japan keeper Zion Suzuki during the warm‑up and again after the final whistle. Speaking in Italian, Alisson told Suzuki he had watched his season in Italy and praised his performance, adding, “You played well, keep your head up.” Suzuki said the recognition was meaningful and motivated him to continue improving.

Both keepers have Serie A experience—Alisson with Roma (2016‑18) and Suzuki with Parma. Suzuki appeared in all four of Japan’s matches, keeping one clean sheet and conceding five goals overall.
