Japasa workers hold protest over labor rights and benefits

Approximately 90 employees of the Salvador Alvarado Potable Water and Sewerage Board (Japasa) in Sinaloa conducted a one-hour labor protest to demand various benefits and rights. Led by Joel Giovanni Heredia Soberanes, the union raised concerns regarding unpaid Fonacot credit deductions, missing uniforms, delayed severance payments, and the reinstatement of their general secretary.

Workers also requested the filling of vacant positions and the formal unionization of staff who have been waiting for over two years. Management, represented by Isaura Bejarano Lugo, stated that they have addressed approximately 80 percent of the labor and financial backlog inherited from previous administrations. Regarding the general secretary's reinstatement, management noted the matter is currently undergoing a legal process.
