Jarabacoa: Missing surveyor found unconscious and dies

Joseph Colón González, a 24-year-old man, has died after being found unconscious in a mountainous area of Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic.

González had been reported missing while performing surveying work in a difficult-to-access area of the Ercilia Pepín sector. Following an alert received around 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, the Buena Vista Fire Department's B-3 Search and Rescue Unit deployed five firefighters to locate him. Using a spiral search pattern, rescuers eventually found the young man unconscious at the bottom of a cliff.

After being extracted from the terrain, González was handed over to the National Emergency and Security Attention System (9-1-1) for medical transport. He was taken to a health center in La Vega, where medical professionals attempted to save his life, but he passed away several hours later.
