Jaraguá do Sul man convicted of financial abuse against elderly parents

A man has been convicted by the court in Jaraguá do Sul after using his elderly parents' credit cards and contracting loans in their names without authorization. The unauthorized operations, which occurred in 2023 while the parents lived with the son in Santa Catarina, resulted in a minimum loss of R$ 72,050.90.

The irregularities were discovered by another child who took over the parents' financial administration. While the defendant admitted to the actions, he claimed the funds were intended for his parents' care and noted his own financial difficulties after leaving his job as a driver. However, the magistrate ruled that providing care did not grant him authority to manage their assets, noting a lack of evidence that the funds were used for the parents' benefit.
