Jardine Cycle & Carriage sells Singapore and Malaysia motor business

Jardine Cycle & Carriage (JC&C) has announced the sale of its automotive distribution and retail operations in Singapore and Malaysia to CCHPL Holdings, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk. The transaction is valued at a base price of US$207 million, though reports indicate the deal may reach approximately S$265 million.

This divestment marks a strategic shift for JC&C, which plans to rename itself Jardine Matheson Southeast Asia (JMSEA). The company aims to focus its capital and resources on its core markets in Indonesia and Vietnam. The sale includes regional trademarks and the legacy motor business that has defined the firm for over a century.

For PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk, the acquisition is part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian mobility sector and integrate it with the company’s existing energy and infrastructure ecosystems. The completion of the deal remains subject to approvals from various automotive principals and other regulatory requirements.
