Jared Kushner and Netanyahu clash over Gaza governance plan

Tensions have escalated between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Jared Kushner regarding a proposed 15-point governance plan for Gaza. Kushner, a member of the Gaza Executive Board, reportedly criticized Netanyahu for obstructing the initiative, accusing him of sabotaging an idea the Prime Minister himself had requested to find an alternative to Hamas rule and continued Israeli control.

Netanyahu has maintained that any new governance agreement for Gaza must only occur after Hamas is completely disarmed and the enclave is fully demilitarized. He has also rejected provisions that would place Gaza under Palestinian law, arguing such a move would imply the creation of a Palestinian state.

Despite these disagreements, reports suggest Netanyahu may be willing to “give a possibility” to the plan promoted by the Trump administration. While the U.S. and Israel appear to share the same ultimate goals, officials note they diverge on the specific sequence and timing of implementation. Currently, the Israel Defense Forces reportedly maintain control over approximately 53% of the Gaza Strip.
