Jared Kushner calls Israeli government ‘irrational’ on Gaza
Jared Kushner, the US envoy for the Gaza peace roadmap, stated that the Israeli government has been ‘a little irrational’ in its handling of Gaza. Speaking during a press briefing in Kyiv, Kushner attributed this behavior to political pressure stemming from Israel’s upcoming national elections, describing the country’s electoral cycle as ‘crazy.’
Kushner noted that while the United States and Israel remain aligned on the ‘end state for Gaza,’ domestic politics have distorted Israeli policy. The US has been working to advance a plan by the Board of Peace to decommission the weapons of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, alongside an Israeli withdrawal from the territory. However, implementation has stalled due to Israeli opposition.
The remarks come as Israel prepares for a general election for the 26th Knesset on October 27. Meanwhile, despite a ceasefire in effect since October 10, 2025, reports indicate ongoing violations. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, these violations have resulted in significant casualties since the truce began.
