Jared Kushner seeks innovative solution for Russia-Ukraine conflict
Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former U.S. President Donald Trump, stated that Washington is seeking an innovative solution to satisfy both Russia and Ukraine. Speaking via video at the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv, Kushner noted that while Moscow has clearly defined its objectives and boundaries, Ukraine currently refuses to accept Russian terms.
Kushner emphasized that if Ukraine were willing to align with Russia's defined boundaries, an agreement on the remaining terms could be reached. He described the role of mediators as finding a solution that does not conflict with the desires of either party. He noted that President Trump, himself, special envoy Steve Witkoff, President Zelenskyy, and President Putin are all committed to finding a path toward settlement.
According to Kushner, successful peace agreements rely on two pillars: meticulous preparatory work and the ability to seize the right moment for implementation. He mentioned that recent visits to Moscow and Kyiv with Witkoff have produced “new ideas,” and expressed hope for upcoming trilateral discussions involving representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine.
