Jared Kushner to visit Israel and Egypt to advance Gaza peace plan FAST-MOVING

Jared Kushner, a negotiator for the Trump administration, is scheduled to travel to the Middle East next week to advance a Gaza peace plan. Kushner is expected to arrive in Israel on Sunday, accompanied by Board of Peace high representative Nickolay Mladenov and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The delegation plans to subsequently travel to Cairo to meet with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as a Palestinian technocratic group intended to assume control of Gaza under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.

The mission aims to implement a 20-point roadmap introduced by President Trump in late 2025. The plan involves the phased disarmament of Hamas and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, potentially supported by an International Stabilization Force and a new Palestinian police force.

While Hamas has expressed agreement to the plan contingent upon Israel meeting its commitments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly rejected the roadmap. Netanyahu has maintained that the complete disarmament of Hamas is a necessary prerequisite before any Israeli troop withdrawal can occur. This friction marks a notable tension between the Trump administration and the Israeli government as they navigate the implementation of the ceasefire and reconstruction efforts.
