Jari-Matti Latvala considers WRC2 return

Toyota team principal Jari-Matti Latvala has expressed interest in returning to competitive rally racing next season, specifically targeting the WRC2 championship. Although he retired from full-time driving in 2020 to take on his management role, Latvala has continued to compete in various categories.

Latvala recently secured a victory in the WRC2 category at the Rally Finland and has been active in the Historic European Rally Championship. While he noted that a full 14-round WRC season would be too demanding, he indicated that a partial schedule, such as the seven-round WRC2 championship, is something he would seriously consider.

In addition to his role at Toyota, Latvala owns the Printsport team, which operates with close ties to Toyota’s WRC program. This ownership could provide him with the logistical framework to compete in more events using his own team next year.
