Jarlin Susana named Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week

Washington Nationals pitching prospect Jarlin Susana has been named the Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week following a dominant start to the season. The 22-year-old right-hander, ranked as the No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline, recorded eight strikeouts across 5.2 innings in two outings while allowing only one earned run.

Susana made history during the week by throwing a 103.8 mph fastball, the fastest pitch recorded in Arizona Fall League history. The performance marks a significant step in his recovery after undergoing season-ending lat surgery in late 2025.

Standing 6-foot-6, Susana utilizes elite velocity, frequently sitting between 101 and 103 mph. While his fastball is noted for generating weak contact, his slider and sweeper are highlighted for their high spin rates and movement. The Nationals will likely continue to monitor his workload as he progresses toward the major leagues.
